About Children's Hospital Foundation

Children’s Hospital Foundation, a supporting entity of Children’s Hospital, leads the philanthropic programs that are designed to support the on-going needs of the hospital. Founded 90 years ago, Children’s Hospital has relied upon the financial support of individuals throughout our community and beyond to continue our mission of caring for children.

Whether it is time, skills or financial support, the gifts of the community truly are what enable Children’s Hospital Foundation to continue in its mission of supporting the hospital.

A New Name

Beginning July 1, the corporate name of Children’s Hospital Foundation will become Children’s Hospital and Healthcare Services Foundation. This change will coincide with the July 1 joining of operations of Children’s Hospital and Virginia Commonwealth University Health System. By combining operations, the new hospital organization will have greater opportunities to address the critical need for a full range of specialty pediatric clinical care, increase research possibilities and recruit pediatric specialists to the region.

Our Foundation will become an independent foundation and continue to raise funds to support pediatric healthcare, with a primary focus on funding the pediatric initiatives of the combined operation. We will also continue to support healthcare projects for children on a broader community basis like our dental education program, health and safety days, bicycle safety campaign and more.


About Our Logo

At the center of our logo (pictured above) is an interpretation of the Andrea della Robbia image of the Holy Infant’s welcoming arms (pictured at right). For many years, this image has symbolized the compassionate care extended to so many through the hospital and supported by our Foundation. The legacy of the della Robbia’s “open arms extended to those in need” lives on and reminds us of our mission to this day.

Our Board of Directors

The Foundation is governed by a separate Board of Directors who oversee the distribution of the funds to the hospital. The funds contained within the Foundation consist of various named endowed funds as well as those funds which are applied for unrestricted purposes.

Contact the Foundation Today

The staff of Children’s Hospital Foundation works each day to support the activities and initiatives of Children’s Hospital. I would like to invite you to learn more about our Foundation and how you can be a part of our on-going work. Your participation could take many forms, including being involved as a volunteer, organizing an event in your office, introducing our Wishing Well Program in your school, holding a child’s birthday party as a part of the Peter Pan Network or making a personal financial gift.
