At Children’s Hospital of Richmond we believe that all children deserve to have joy and laughter in their lives. And we work each day to make sure our patients have the support they need to grow stronger and live life to the fullest. For over 85 years Children’s Hospital has been there for the children of our community, providing care and encouragement as they grow.

Our mission is to be a resource and provider of specialized medical and therapeutic services customized to meet the specific needs of children and their families. From small personal touches to advanced equipment and treatments, everything we do is designed just for kids. Every day our staff focuses on improving the lives of our patients and creating a truly comforting environment; one that is warm, friendly and filled with childhood activities.

Our Pediatric Therapy Program serves more children than any other in the region and does so with four area locations to meet the needs of the families we serve. Therapy services are available at convenient hours for children and parents at the Main Hospital in North Richmond, as well as community-based therapy centers in Glen Allen, Midlothian and Fredericksburg.

Our Pediatric Dental Program serves the dental needs of all children, including those with special needs, in a newly renovated clinic that is state-of-the-art and child-friendly. Our Multispeciality Clinics bring together numerous disciplines, allowing families to get the expertise they need for their child’s care all in one place. And our Children’s Feeding Program serves local children as well as those from around the country in a specialized program that helps children overcome feeding problems. 

Our 23 bed Transitional Care Unit is growing, with construction underway to increase it to 47 beds to provide developmentally appropriate inpatient care for even more children and young adults with complex medical needs. We do this in a supportive, family- centered environment where we provide medical care as well as education services, community outings and childhood fun.

We have a long history of providing quality, compassionate care for children and we are committed to continuing that into the future. Children’s Hospital is a special place where a child and family will discover transforming moments that make a genuine difference in living life. Moments made possible by continued support from our community. Over 7,000 children were treated in one of our programs last year.
