The Employee Experience

Employees help raise money for Children's Hospital by running in a 10k

Working at Children’s Hospital is a unique and rewarding experience. Whether working in a clinical or support department, all of our employees make a difference in the lives of our patients, families and community every day.

In addition to normal work activities, our employees have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of events throughout the year, including:

  • Semi-annual Employee Celebrations
  • The “Heart & Soul” Employee Recognition Program in which employees are nominated by peers and families.
  • Hospital Fundraisers such as the American Family Fitness 5K/10K (pictured above right) which benefit the Hospital as well as participating employees.
  • Richmond-area Health and Awareness Events to teach young children a variety of life skills including proper dental hygiene, good hand-washing, and even proper bodily movement.

Staying Young at Heart

At Children’s Hospital, our motto is “Young at Heart,” where our main focus is on children. In the spirit of children, we encourage all of our employees to remain young, lively, and hopeful. We have a long history in Richmond and we still remain young at heart.

What our employees say about working here...

"We work as a team to care for children with a broad range of disorders. Seeing that little smile on a child’s face is the best reward ever!”
– Bonni, RN, Evening Shift Leader, Transitional Care Unit, 5 years

“As someone who spends time with each new employee, I hear many comments about how warm and caring the environment feels to a new person. Even after all my years here, I still get that feeling. I believe it is extremely important to work for a company that makes a positive influence in the lives of those we touch. Children’s Hospital is definitely that type of company.”
– Robin, Director of Performance Improvement, 10 years

“No two days at Children’s Hospital are exactly the same. Each day, I love seeing the children’s smiling faces, which lets me know that my contribution makes a positive difference in their lives. The hospital also affords opportunities to learn additional skills which, in turn, opens the doors for advancement.”
– Latrelle, Rehab Technician, Midlothian Therapy Center, 1 year

“Seeing the kids on the Transitional Care Unit is uplifting, letting me know that I am in some small and unique way giving a little comfort to them and their families by doing my job to the best of my abilities. It is important to know that you are making an impact in their lives as part of the team.”
– Sharon, Patient Accounting Representative, 4 years
