Employee Benefits

Children’s Hospital offers a wide variety of benefits to employees. For fulltime and part-time employees, the Hospital provides the following at no additional cost to the employee:

In addition to the above benefits, fulltime and part-time employees may participate in benefit elections as follows:

Paid Time Off
Employees accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) to use for time away from work for vacation, for illness, and to meet other personal needs in the event of family illness, bereavement, inclement weather, or other personal business. All fulltime and part-time employees begin accruing PTO on their first day of employment. The amount of PTO accrued each pay period depends on length of service and number of hours worked in the pay period. Children’s Hospital also offers yearly PTO buy and sell opportunities (Fulltime Only), allowing employees to purchase up to five additional days of PTO or cash-out unused PTO at the end of the calendar year.

Holidays
Children’s Hospital recognizes eight holidays. These holidays are time off in addition to PTO. The eight holidays recognized are:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • The Day After Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day
  • One Floating Holiday Earned on Anniversary of Hire

Retirement Plans
Employees can accumulate funds for retirement through two qualified plans:

  • a defined benefit plan funded entirely by the Hospital commonly referred to as a pension plan, and employees are eligible after six (6) months of employment and fully vested after five (5) years
  • a 401(k) plan or defined contribution plan. This plan requires an employee investments and has a Hospital match of 50% of the first 4% of employee investment, up to a maximum of 2% of salary.

Educational Assistance Programs
All fulltime and part-time employee have access to a tuition reimbursement plan after six (6) months of employment. The plan calls for payment of tuition at 100% or 50% for secondary and graduate education coursework to prepare for aspired hospital roles. The Hospital will also support continuing education by paying for registration and business-related expenses needed to attend job related workshops and conferences.
