Auxiliary Boards

The Auxiliary Boards at Children’s Hospital play a vital role in fulfilling the hospital’s mission. From their earliest inception, shortly after the hospital was founded, to the present these active volunteers give generously of their time and talents to promote and advance the welfare of the hospital. All fundraising efforts provided by our three Auxiliary Boards – the Senior Board, Junior Board and Sunshine Circle – benefit Children’s Hospital Foundation.

  • Senior Board
    The Senior Board supports the hospital through a variety of community fundraising events, such as the Children Fore Children golf tournament and the Wishing Well Program. The Senior Board also manages the hospital’s Sunshine Gift Shop.
  • Junior Board
    Organized in 1933, the Junior Board of Children’s Hospital works for and with the special children served by the Hospital. Many volunteer hours annually benefit the Hospital in its Therapeutic Recreation Program, Gift Shop, and Special Events sponsored by the Hospital. 

    The highlight of the Junior Board’s fundraising year is the annual Children’s Hospital Ball. The Ball’s carefully chosen theme is portrayed through creative decorations which adorn The Country Club of Virginia. Junior Board members spend tireless hours planning, creating, painting, and finally applying the finishing touches to the decorations, which delight and often surprise the Ball patrons.

  • Sunshine Circle
    The Sunshine Circle supports the hospital through its annual fundraiser, the Holiday Mart, which is held each fall. Throughout the year members gather and work on crafts to be sold at the Mart.

Our Auxiliary Board members are dedicated volunteers who truly make a difference in our hospital. Their support is greatly appreciated by hospital staff, physicians, patients and their families, visitors and our community.
