101 Great New Home Ideas to Benefit Children’s Hospital Foundation

Whether you’re looking for a new home or updating ideas for your current home, Richmond’s HOMEARAMA 2010 will feature suggestions and designs for every style and budget. Scheduled for Sept. 18 through Oct. 3 from noon to 9 p.m. daily, the home showcase will be held at Patriots Landing, a planned community near Interstates 64 and 295 in New Kent County. The event’s theme, “101 Great New Ideas for Your Home,” will highlight the floor plans of eight finished homes, including a charity house benefiting Children’s Hospital Foundation, as well as a variety of design and functional elements to transform any living space.

The Foundation charity house, named the Sallie May Dooley home after one of the hospital’s earliest benefactors, is being built by LifeStyle Builders & Developers, Inc., a locally-owned home building company. LifeStyle Builders will donate 100 percent of the proceeds of the sale of the home to Children’s Hospital Foundation. During the three week event, each room in the charity house will feature pottery hand-painted by children from Children’s Hospital’s Transitional Care Unit.

Children’s Hospital Foundation will be holding an event at the charity house on Saturday, September 25th featuring live music, free BBQ lunch for the first 500 guests, and a silent auction of the hand-painted pottery.

Admission to any day of the three week event is $10. Children’s Hospital Foundation will also receive half of the admission price for each person that attends with a special Foundation admission ticket. Click here to download your ticket today.

28th Annual Teddy Bear Run

Saturday, November 6th

Sponsored by the Blue Knights of Richmond, this event has brought more than 1,000 teddy bears to our patients every year for the past 27 years. Each year, the children at Children’s Hospital of Richmond’s Brook Road Campus love watching the caravan of motorcycles come to the hospitals and deliver the stuffed teddy bears. The teddy bears are given to children who are present at the event and also used throughout the year as gifts to our patients. As you can imagine, they provide a great deal of comfort and happiness to the children who receive them.

The 28th Annual Teddy Bear Run will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010. This event begins at Colonial Harley Davidson in Colonial Heights and the riders arrive to Children’s Hospital of Richmond’s Brook Road Campus around 1:30pm. They drive by the main entrance and pass out teddy bears to the patients that attend the event. Open to the public. For more information, please contact 228-5827.
